The Protocol Experiment

(V-06: New York Urban) The 42nd floor of the Sterling-Vane Tower was a cathedral of glass and brushed aluminum. Marcus Vane, the CEO, didn't believe in leadership; he believed in protocols. To him, the human mind was simply a series of inputs and outputs, and his job was to optimize the system. He launched 'The Efficiency Initiative,' a brutal training program for his top executives. The goal was simple: absolute synchronization. "In this building," Vane told them, "the individual is a rounding error. The system is everything." The executives were the sharks of Wall Street, used to being the apex predators. Two of them, Julian and Claire, found the initiative amusing. They were the 'Golden Children' of the firm, the ones who brought in the most revenue. During the synchronization drills, they treated the process as a joke, intentionally lagging their responses, whispering critiques of Vane's 'pseudo-science' while the other executives watched in terrified silence. Vane didn't rage. He didn't even raise his voice. He simply paused the timer and looked at the digital display. "Protocol 7.4," Vane whispered, "requires the immediate removal of systemic noise." In the world of Sterling-Vane, there was no physical execution. There was something far more absolute. Within ten minutes, Julian and Claire's biometric access was revoked. Their company-issued devices went dark. Their bank accounts, tied to the firm's equity, were frozen. By the time they reached the elevators, they were no longer employees; they were non-entities. Their professional reputations were annihilated by a single, company-wide memo that categorized them as 'unstable assets.' They were escorted out of the building by security, not as executives, but as trespassers. As they stood on the sidewalk of Park Avenue, stripped of their power and their identity, the rest of the executives watched from the glass walls above. The synchronization drills resumed. This time, there was no lagging. There were no whispers. There was only the terrifying, rhythmic pulse of a machine that had finally purged its flaws. --- **Objective Tensor Code:** OTMES_v2: [M5:12.0, M3:9.0, N1:0.8, K2:0.7, TI:66.0, theta:225]
