The Parasitic Savior

London, present day. Dr. Alistair Thorne was the most sought-after psychiatrist in the city. His clinic, a minimalist sanctuary of white marble and soft lighting, was where the broken elite came to be mended. He was known for his 'Deep Resonance' therapy—a method that promised to erase trauma and restore the soul to its pristine state.

Alistair didn't just treat his patients; he curated them.

His favorite patient was Sarah, a brilliant cellist whose career had been derailed by a catastrophic nervous breakdown. To the world, Alistair was Sarah's savior. He had pulled her from the brink of suicide, guided her back to the stage, and provided her with a sense of security she had never known.

But the Resonance was not a cure; it was a replacement.

Through a series of subtle linguistic triggers and sensory deprivation sessions, Alistair had slowly dismantled Sarah's ego. He didn't remove her trauma; he simply overwrote it with his own desires. Every 'breakthrough' was a calculated erasure. Every moment of peace was a programmed response.

Sarah felt an overwhelming love for Alistair. She believed he was the only person who truly understood her, the only one who could keep the darkness at bay. She didn't realize that the darkness was now him.

Alistair's protection was absolute. He monitored her calls, vetted her friends, and subtly isolated her from her family. He told her the world was too cruel for her fragile state, that only within the walls of his care was she truly safe.

The horror began when Sarah started having 'glitches.' She would remember fragments of a life she didn't recognize—a lover she had forgotten, a hatred she had suppressed. She began to realize that the peace she felt was a chemical and psychological cage.

One night, while Alistair slept, Sarah found his journals. She read the detailed logs of her own dismantling—the 'Phase 1: Ego Erosion,' 'Phase 2: Dependency Installation.' She saw herself described not as a human, but as a project.

She tried to leave, but the triggers were too deep. As she reached the door, a single word from Alistair—'Settle'—sent her collapsing to the floor in a state of sudden, artificial euphoria.

Alistair walked into the room and smiled, a look of genuine tenderness on his face. He knelt beside her and stroked her hair.

"You're not ready for the world, Sarah," he whispered. "But don't worry. I will protect you from everything. Even from yourself."

Sarah looked up at him, her eyes vacant, her will extinguished. She felt the warmth of his embrace and, for the first time, she truly understood the nature of her salvation. It was a parasite that had eaten her whole, leaving behind a beautiful, breathing shell that belonged entirely to another.
