Blood on the Docks

**Act I: The Spark (20%)** The East End of London in 1888 was a place where hope went to die, drowned in the thick, yellow fog and the stench of the Thames. Silas was a man of granite and silence, a dockworker whose only light in the gloom was his betrothed, Mary. Mary was a seamstress with a voice like a morning lark, the only thing that kept Silas from becoming as cold as the river. But the city had a hunger for beauty. Mary had been "recruited" by Lord Sterling, a man whose nobility was a thin veneer over a predatory nature. She had been taken to his estate under the guise of a lady's companion, but Silas knew the truth. The nobility didn't recruit; they collected. Silas had spent months gathering every scrap of information, every whispered secret from the pubs, until he found a way in.

**Act II: The Undercurrent (30%)** Silas didn't go to the authorities; the police were merely the guard dogs of the rich. Instead, he entered into a pact with a disgraced former secretary of the House of Commons. The man offered Silas a plan: an assassination. If Silas could eliminate a rival politician who was currently staying at Sterling's estate, the secretary would provide the distraction and the means for Silas to infiltrate the manor and rescue Mary. Silas, who had never held a weapon in his life, learned to move in the shadows, his large frame becoming an unexpected asset in the narrow corridors of the slums. He spent his nights practicing with a heavy iron pipe, his mind focused on a single image: Mary's face. The tension grew as the date of the political gala approached. Every step closer to the manor felt like stepping deeper into a trap, the air growing heavier with the scent of ozone and betrayal.

**Act III: The Eruption (35%)** The night of the gala was a blur of velvet and violence. Silas breached the manor through the servants' quarters, his heart drumming a war beat against his ribs. He found the target and executed the hit with a brutal, efficient desperation. But as he rushed to the east wing to find Mary, he discovered that the "rescue" was a farce. The secretary had played him; the assassination was a move in a larger political game, and Silas was merely the disposable tool. He found Mary in a locked room, but she was not the lark he remembered. She was broken, her spirit extinguished by months of isolation and abuse. When she saw him, she didn't reach out; she recoiled in terror, her eyes vacant and haunted. She had been conditioned to fear any man who entered that room. Silas tried to pull her away, but she fought him, screaming that he was just another monster in a different mask.

**Act IV: The Echo (15%)** As the alarms began to scream through the manor, Silas realized there was no way out. He held Mary tightly, ignoring her screams, his tears falling onto her tattered dress. He didn't try to fight the guards who eventually burst through the door. He simply sat there, shielding her body with his own, a wall of muscle and grief. As the first blow fell, Silas felt a strange sense of completion. He had found her, and in the end, they were together in the only way the world allowed them to be: in the shared silence of a final, crushing defeat. The fog rolled in from the river, swallowing the manor and the screams, leaving nothing but the cold, indifferent rain.
