The Gallery of Abstract Sighs

Felix lived in a penthouse that was less of a home and more of a curated void. He was an artist whose work had been described as "bravely empty," which was a polite way of saying he had no ideas. His life was a series of expensive cocktails and conversations about the "semiotics of silence," all while he secretly feared that he was a fraud.

Then he found the "Conceptual Plot." It was a small, shimmering patch of soil on his roof, a gift from a dying eccentric who claimed to have discovered the "geometry of emotion."

Felix discovered that he could plant words. If he whispered "Melancholy" into the soil, a drooping, translucent blue flower would grow, emitting a scent that made anyone who smelled it weep for a childhood they never had. If he planted "Arrogance," a sharp, gold-leafed cactus would erupt, causing an immediate, inexplicable sense of superiority in the viewer.

The New York art world went insane. Felix became the toast of the city. He opened a gallery called *The Living Abstract*, where people paid thousands of dollars to stand in front of a "Sigh-Lily" or a "Rage-Rose." He was no longer a fraud; he was a visionary.

But the plants were not static. They began to feed on the emotions of the gallery visitors, amplifying them until the exhibitions became chaotic scenes of public breakdown. A "Despair-Vine" once caused an entire room of critics to collapse into a collective depressive episode, while a "Euphoria-Bloom" led to a riot of unplanned weddings and spontaneous nudity.

Felix found himself caught in a loop of his own creation. To keep the public interested, he had to plant more extreme concepts. He planted "Existential Dread," "Cosmic Indifference," and "The Void."

One evening, during his biggest show, Felix looked at his latest creation: a plant he had named "The Absolute Truth." It was a simple, white flower, devoid of any scent or color.

As he leaned in to inspect it, the flower released a single, invisible spore.

Suddenly, the gallery vanished. The critics, the champagne, the flashing cameras—all of it dissolved into a grey mist. Felix saw himself not as a great artist, but as a small, shivering man standing in a wasteland of his own ego. He realized that the plants hadn't been creating art; they had been mirroring his own emptiness, magnifying his void until it consumed everything.

He looked around and saw that the other visitors were also staring into their own voids, their faces frozen in expressions of absolute, naked horror.

Felix laughed. It was the first honest sound he had made in years. He reached down and plucked the white flower, crushing it in his hand. The world snapped back into place—the noise, the lights, the fake smiles.

He walked to the center of the room and announced that the show was over. He went back to his roof and salted the soil, leaving the city to its beautiful, glittering lies.
