(Story Content - V05: Southern Gothic)

Act I: The Inheritance (20%) The Blackwood Estate sat in the heart of the Louisiana bayou, a rotting monument to a forgotten aristocracy. Silas Blackwood, the last of his line, lived in the house with the shutters closed, hiding from a sun that only revealed the decay. He found Cora in a damp cell of the local parish jail, accused of a crime she hadn't committed—stealing from the very family that had owned her ancestors. Silas, driven by a twisted sense of ancestral guilt, paid the Sheriff a sum that bought Cora's freedom and her silence. He brought her back to the estate, promising her a sanctuary from the world.

Act II: The Slow Erosion (30%) Life at Blackwood was a series of ritualized silences. Silas treated Cora with a terrifying kindness, providing her with the finest linens and the rarest books. But the house was a predator. He began to subtly dismantle her identity, telling her that the world outside hated her, that the Sheriff was still hunting her, and that only Silas could keep her safe. He used a mixture of isolation and intermittent affection to create a psychological dependency. Cora, exhausted by years of trauma, clung to him. She began to see the bayou not as a prison, but as a protective wall.

Act III: The Mirror's Edge (35%) The facade crumbled during the Great Flood of 1927. As the water rose, swallowing the lower floors of the estate, Silas's composure broke. He revealed the truth: he hadn't saved Cora out of mercy, but because he wanted to see if he could "break" a human spirit as completely as the swamp broke the land. He had orchestrated the very "threats" from the Sheriff that had kept her trapped. He wanted her to be a mirror of his own internal void. The revelation was a psychic blow that shattered Cora's remaining sanity. She didn't fight him; she simply stopped speaking. She became a ghost in the house, moving through the flooded hallways with a vacant stare.

Act IV: The Eternal Return (15%) When the waters receded, the Blackwood Estate remained, but it was empty. The locals spoke of a man and a woman who had walked into the swamp together, hand in hand, and never returned. Some said they had found a hidden paradise; others said the bayou had finally claimed its due. In the end, the only thing left was the house, rotting slowly in the humid air, a monument to a rescue that was actually a slow-motion execution.
