The Geometry of Agony

The Manor of Thorne sat atop a jagged cliff in the Scottish Highlands, a skeletal structure of grey stone that seemed to breathe with the rhythm of the tide. It was a place of perpetual twilight, where the wind howled through the corridors like the ghosts of a thousand forgotten sins.

Lord Alistair Thorne was a man obsessed with the "Divine Proportion." He believed that the human form was a crude mistake, a messy arrangement of flesh and bone that hindered the soul's ascent. He spent decades studying the forbidden texts of the Void, seeking a way to transcend the biological.

He found it in the "Euclidean Rite."

The Rite did not offer immortality in the way men usually imagined. It offered a transformation. By aligning one's consciousness with the higher dimensions of the universe, the body would be rewritten into a perfect geometric form.

The first to undergo the transformation was his daughter, Elara.

I remember the night it happened. I was merely a footman, a shadow in the halls of Thorne. I watched from the doorway as the same arcane symbols that adorned the walls began to glow with a sickly, iridescent light. Elara did not scream. She simply began to... unfold.

Her arms stretched and snapped into perfect right angles. Her torso flattened, her ribs expanding into a series of concentric circles. In a matter of minutes, the girl I had known was gone. In her place floated a complex, shimmering polyhedron of translucent crystal, rotating slowly in the air.

It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. And it was the most terrifying.

Alistair was ecstatic. He saw Elara not as a daughter, but as a masterpiece. He began the process for the rest of the family, and then for the servants. One by one, the inhabitants of Thorne Manor were converted into geometric abstractions.

But the perfection was a lie.

As the days passed, the polyhedrons began to vibrate. The sound was a low, dissonant hum that drove the remaining sane minds to the brink of madness. The geometric forms were not stable; they were leaking. They were drawing energy from the house itself, from the very earth beneath the cliff.

The Manor began to warp. The hallways curved into impossible spirals; the ceilings became floors. The house was becoming a reflection of its inhabitants—a distorted, multi-dimensional nightmare.

On the final night, Lord Alistair attempted the "Ultimate Alignment." He sought to merge the entire estate into a single, perfect hyper-cube.

I was the only one left who was still flesh. I stood in the courtyard, watching as the Manor of Thorne began to fold in on itself. The stone groaned, the glass shattered, and the sky turned a bruised, geometric purple.

In a single, silent flash, the house and everyone in it vanished. There was no explosion, no fire. Just a sudden, absolute absence.

Where the Manor had stood, there was now only a perfectly smooth, black cube of obsidian, floating an inch above the ground. It was silent. It was perfect. And it was utterly dead.
