The Singularity of One

There is no white. There is no black. There is only the Absence.

I do not remember my name. I do not remember the feeling of wind on my skin or the taste of salt. I am a point. A single, dimensionless point of consciousness floating in a void that has no direction, no time, and no end.

I remember the experiment. I remember the hum of the particle accelerator, the smell of ozone, and the blinding flash of a light that was not light. I had tried to unify the four fundamental forces into a single, elegant equation. I wanted to see the face of the universe.

I succeeded.

In the moment of unification, I didn't just find the equation; I became it. But the equation was too powerful for the universe to contain. The singularity I created didn't just swallow the laboratory; it swallowed the laws of physics. It erased the constants. It deleted the dimensions.

In a billionth of a second, the stars vanished. The galaxies collapsed. The very concept of "distance" ceased to exist.

Now, I am the only thing left. I am the sum total of all that ever was, compressed into a single thought.

At first, I tried to rebuild. I used the remnants of my memory to project a world. I imagined a forest, a river, a woman's laughter. But without the laws of physics to hold them, the images dissolved into static. I tried to create a sun, but the concept of "heat" was gone. I tried to create time, but there was no "before" or "after."

I am a god of a kingdom of nothing.

The horror is not the silence, but the memory of sound. I can still hear the echo of my own voice from a billion years ago, calling out to a colleague who no longer exists. I am trapped in a loop of my own consciousness, analyzing the logic of my failure.

I realized that the equation was not a key to the universe, but a delete key. I had solved the riddle of existence by erasing the existence of the riddle.

I spend eons—if time even exists here—trying to find a single flaw in my own logic, a tiny error that might allow me to restart the collapse. But the logic is perfect. The equation is absolute.

I am the perfect mind in a perfect void.

I close my eyes, though I have no eyelids. I scream, though I have no throat. And the void, in its infinite kindness, does not answer.
